Christ Jesus Came Into The World To Save Sinners!
“CHRIST JESUS CAME INTO THE WORLD TO SAVE SINNERS”
I Timothy 1:15
There were many things that Christ did during His life upon the earth. Yet, the main reason that Jesus came was to be the Savior. Who did Jesus come to save? The Bible tells us “. . . Christ Jesus came into the world to save sinners” (1 Timothy 1:15). Well, who is a sinner? A sinner is one who has violated God’s absolute standard of right and wrong. The Bible teaches us everyone has done this and is a sinner. “For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23). “For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not” (Ecclesiastes 7:20). God is holy and He commands us to keep all His commandments. “That thou mightest fear the LORD thy God, to keep all his statutes and his commandments, which I command thee, thou, and thy son, and thy son's son, all the days of thy life...” (Deuteronomy 6:2). However, we do not keep his commandments. Have you ever told a lie? Yes, then you have broken the ninth commandment (Exodus 20:15). The Bible says that one sin makes us guilty. “For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all” (James 2:10). The Law was not given to make us righteous but to show us that we stand guilty before God. “Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God. Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin” (Romans 3:19-20). Because we are sinners, we have been separated from God. Our sin separates us from God. “But your iniquities have separated between you and your God, and your sins have hid his face from you, that he will not hear” (Isaiah 59:2). The penalty for our sin is death. “For the wages of sin is death...” (Romans 6:23a). The Bible speaks about physical death and the second death which is separation from God in the lake of fire (Revelation 20:15). However, Jesus came to save us from our sins. “And she shall bring forth a son, and thou shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall save his people from their sins” (Matthew 1:21). Why did Jesus come to save sinners? The reason is because He loves us. “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life” (John 3:16). What must we do in order for Christ to save us? First, we must realize we cannot do any work to save ourselves. Good works, keeping the Law, or baptism cannot save you. “Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law” (Romans 3:28). “For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: Not of works, lest any man should boast” (Ephesians 2:8, 9). Salvation is a free gift. If you had to work for it, salvation would not be a gift. We are not saved by works but by believing or trusting in Christ. “But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness” (Romans 4:5). Jesus is the Savior and He died to save you. “But God commendeth his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us” (Romans 5:8).” We are to believe on Christ to be saved. “...Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house” (Acts 16:30-31). “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16). Notice in this passage it says three times we are justified or declared righteous by faith and not by the works of the Law: “Knowing that a man is not justified by the works of the law, but by the faith of Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Jesus Christ, that we might be justified by the faith of Christ, and not by the works of the law: for by the works of the law shall no flesh be justified” (Galatians 2:16). Jesus Christ is offering you salvation as a free gift. “...the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord” (Romans 6:23). All you must do to receive this gift is put your faith and trust in Him alone. “Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is no other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved” (Acts 4:12). If you would like Jesus to save you and have genuinely chosen to put your trust in Him, you can tell Him this in prayer. “Dear Jesus, I realize that I am a sinner. I believe that you died to save me from my sin. I now receive you as my Savior in Jesus name. Amen.” If you have received Jesus as your Savior or if you want more information concerning salvation please email us and let us know.
